Wooten Family – Croatia Update #3
Today we have been in Zagreb for two full weeks! We can hardly believe how fast time has flown by. Last week was filled with several holidays for the country of Croatia. This allowed us to spend ample amounts of time with families as they invited us over for lunches and dinners. It has been so fun watching Nadia and Skylar sing and dance to American music with their new found friends here! Everywhere you travel in Croatia, you hear American music, which fits in fine with us since we love to sing and dance all the time. (Yes, Derek dances too!) This week we visited Zagreb’s newest shopping mall called, “The Avenue”. It was beautiful inside with wall to wall shopping. Later in the week, we celebrated the Croatian Independence Day at a Lake Jarun. This is a beautiful park that has two lakes, picnic tables, grills and various bike, walking and roller blading paths. It was a gorgeous sunny day filled with badminton, volleyball, frisbee and tree climbing. The church had organized a barbecue and we got to taste Chevapi which is sausage that is considered a Croatian “must have”! It was delicious and flavorful. All weekend it rained, but that didn’t spoil our fun. During a brief stay in a pizza shop as we waited out the rain, I shared my faith with a woman named. . . Misha! This was the first time this has happened to me, and because my name is Slavic, the probability of this happening is greater here than anywhere else. The girls had a pajama party/sleepover with a family and Derek and I went on a date to see a movie. We were surprised when we paid for the tickets and found out that we had to choose our seats electronically before entering the theater.
